Understanding early detection

Early detection doesn't start with a symptom. It starts before.

What it means to look early at urological health: when to start, why even without symptoms, what a urologist actually does and how Streamcheck closes the gap between doctor visits.

Recommendation

From now on, early detection is part of it.

From 45, statutory cancer screening in Germany includes an annual urological exam. It's a snapshot. Regular self-measurements in between make it far more meaningful.

With Streamcheck

Streamcheck closes the gap between appointments - with readings from your everyday life.

What happens at the urologist

Four building blocks. No secrets. No reason to hesitate.

Many men have never been to a urologist - and keep putting off the first appointment out of uncertainty. Yet the process is calm, quick and, in the vast majority of cases, entirely straightforward. Here's how a typical visit goes.

  1. Step 1

    History & physical exam

First a calm conversation: symptoms, prior conditions, prostate cancer in the family. Then the physical exam of the prostate through the rectum - it sounds worse than it is. It takes a few seconds and gives the urologist a first direct impression of size and texture.

  2. Step 2

    PSA & urine analysis

A simple blood test determines the PSA value - a protein marker of the prostate. The urine is checked for blood, signs of inflammation, protein and sugar. Small values that together paint a surprisingly clear picture.

  3. Step 3

    Uroflowmetry & ultrasound

You empty your bladder into a measuring device - the flow curve shows how strong and even your stream is. Ultrasound shows the urologist how much residual urine remains and how large the prostate is. Both are painless and done in minutes.

  4. Step 4

    Classification & next step

In the end, the urologist brings all results together - no single value is the diagnosis on its own. From that comes a clear recommendation: watch, investigate further or treat. You go home with a plan, not with open questions.

Arrive prepared

A urologist sees a lot - but not everything.

In the practice, it's always just a snapshot. What happens between two appointments, only you see. Anyone who brings their Streamcheck trend and specialist report hands the doctor real data from everyday life - instead of memory and gut feeling. That makes the conversation more concrete and the assessment more reliable.

One measurement vs. a trend

12 data points see more than a single appointment.

Seeing a urologist is right and important. But months pass between visits without a single data point. Streamcheck fills exactly that gap - for men who want to know where they really stand.

Classic: once per year

One value. A snapshot. Changes, daily fluctuation and trends remain invisible.

With Streamcheck: 12x a year

A trend. Patterns become visible. Your urologist can look at data - not at a single day.

No appointments. No waiting rooms.

Getting a urologist appointment takes time - and then you wait some more. Seeing one stays essential. Streamcheck closes the gap in between.

Catch acute issues early

Sudden changes, infections or real impairments show up immediately - not at your next appointment six months away.

More data. Real conclusions.

Averages, fluctuations and outliers only emerge from many measurements. A single value says little - a trend says everything.

Undisturbed. Without bias.

Nerves, drinking too much beforehand, embarrassment in the waiting room - all of it skews the annual one-shot measurement. At home you measure calmly, honestly, as it really is.

What matters

Six foundations - not lifestyle, substance.

Hydration

1.5-2 L water daily flushes the urinary tract and helps prevent infections.

Movement

Regular activity measurably reduces the risk of prostate disease.

Pelvic floor

Also for men: targeted training supports bladder and continence.

Sleep

Frequent night waking isn't an age sign - it's a signal.

Self-observation

Stream, frequency, residual feel - those who pay attention notice changes earlier.

Screening

Annually from 45. With family history, from 40.

Even without symptoms

Whoever waits until it hurts has missed the best moment.

Gradual, not sudden

Prostate enlargement and early tumors grow over years. When symptoms become noticeable, the window for the simplest treatment is often already smaller.

What you don't feel can still be visible

Altered flow rate, residual urine, slightly elevated PSA - many things are measurable long before you notice anything. That's the entire point of early detection.

Trends matter more than single values

One value says little. Twelve values across a year show direction. That's the difference between luck and prevention.

Your next step

Make early detection routine. Today, not someday.
